Farnham Maltings are looking to recruit passionate and reliable chefs to join our Catering Team. Flexible part time and full time contracts are available; shifts include lunchtime cafe service, evening and weekend events. Contract: Part time and full time hours per week including day-time, some evening and weekend shifts. Hours are confirmed by fortnightly rota and are subject to the needs of the business and seasonal variations.

We are closed for all Bank Holidays and between Christmas and New Year.

Salary: 15.50 per hour

Start Date: As soon as possible

Objectives & responsibilities:

1. To work alongside our Bar & Catering Manager to ensure consistent high quality food preparation, cooking and presentation for all events within the building and the Riverside Cafe.

2. Responsible for maintaining standards of cleanliness and hygiene compliant with legal requirements and our own high standards.

3. Required to work as part of a team to deliver high quality food and exceptional customer service.

Duties:

1. To ensure a consistently high quality of food preparation, cooking and presentation for all events within the building and the Riverside Cafe.

- To prepare, cook and present food to specified standards.

- To work closely with the Catering Team to ensure food is prepared and presented in accordance with our high standards

- A desire to progress with planning for functions and hirers alongside the Bar and Catering Manager

- To assist the Bar & Catering Manager with menu creation and development of event menus

- A knowledge of costing dishes for the menu within the companies required GP%

- Have an interest in food trends and a full understanding of allergies

2. Responsible for maintaining standards of cleanliness and hygiene compliant with legal requirements.

- To ensure compliance with food hygiene and Health and Safety at Work standards are maintained.

- To adhere to all operating guidelines for kitchen equipment and follow specified cleaning and operating instructions.

- To record and adhere to the cleaning schedules, wash up as necessary and re-cycle as appropriate.

- Maintain accurate records for allergens present, food supplies, and monitor freezer/fridge temperatures.

Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and, where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively.

- Report immediately to the Deputy General Manager any illness of an infectious nature

3. To work as part of a team to deliver a high standard of customer service.

- To promptly communicate changes to the menu with staff before and during service when required.

- Maintain and improve your professional knowledge and competence through mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
