An army marches on its stomach, so they say, and whilst care residents' marching days are mostly behind them, nutrition plays just as crucial a part in staying healthy and maintaining wellbeing as it's always done.
With this in mind then, we're looking for an experienced chef, who loves their food and is trained to NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent, as well as possessing an intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate as a minimum.
Our care home menus are frequently changing, as we look to offer up some variety for our residents, especially across the seasons, so if you like to mix it up in the kitchen, that's a definite plus point - and we're happy for you to get creative in what you're looking to offer. You will, though, be cooking for people with specialist dietary requirements, so this will need to be factored in at all times.
You'll be given free reign to order what's needed to produce your culinary masterpieces, but you'll need to work within a budget, ensuring stock control is at the right level to maintain a high standard of service, with everything in accordance with health and safety regulations.
As a chef working in care, you'll be playing a crucial role in keeping people healthy and happy - so there's a lovely element of reward involved, as well as the opportunity to form some great friendships with those you're catering for.
