We are a small independent coffee bar in Leeds city centre, with a solid, and growing reputation for excellent coffee. As we expand, we are looking for someone to join our small team here at Stage.
Chef - Starting at 30h/week with potential to increase to 45h/week
Initially this role will just be for Monday to Saturday brunch service, with the potential to extend to an earlier breakfast service. We'd anticipate initial hours of 9am to 2.30pm each day.
Job Responsibilities
Wholly responsible for running the kitchen, at least initially with no other kitchen staff
Prepare and cook a range of vegetarian and vegan food to order
Develop a full menu and revise it over time, in collaboration with other Stage staff
Create product specs for each dish on the menu
Ensure timely preparation of meals during service periods
Develop grab-and-go cake and baked goods
Stock control and purchasing of products
Ensure food safety and hygiene best practices are followed at all times
Keep the kitchen clean and organised
Ensure a positive and friendly atmosphere for both staff and customers
Monitor the popularity and profitability of menu items
The right person for this role will be
Living in Leeds and permitted to work in the UK
Experienced working in a professional kitchen environment, or able to demonstrate a high level of competency working with food.
Holding a food safety qualification
Interested in vegetarian and vegan food
Punctual and good with scheduling
Well organised
Comfortable working independently and under pressure
Happy being on their feet all day and regularly walking up and down stairs
Someone with a positive attitude
Someone who enjoys routine and structure, but can be flexible
A quick learner with a desire to learn new things
