Chef Position at Leigh Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club. Job Role Requirements

1. Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Proven experience as a kitchen manager, head chef, or similar role (usually 2-5 years)

Experience in high-volume food service operations is a strong asset

2. Skills and Competencies

Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff

Organizational Skills: Manage schedules, inventory, and food preparation timelines

Communication: Clear communication with staff and suppliers

Problem Solving: Handle issues related to staffing, supply chain, or customer complaints.

Attention to Detail: Ensure high standards for food quality, safety, and cleanliness

Time Management: Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations: Familiarity with local food safety laws and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP)

3. Technical Knowledge

Proficiency in kitchen equipment and tools

Inventory control and ordering systems

Budgeting and cost control

Knowledge of food preparation techniques and menu development

4. Certifications (Optional but Often Preferred)

Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent)

5. Personal Attributes

Strong work ethic

Ability to work long and flexible hours (evenings, weekends, holidays)

Calm under pressure

Passion for food and customer satisfaction

Computer literate
