About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated

Chef

to join our care home team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. You will ensure all food is prepared safely, hygienically, and in compliance with health and safety standards.

You will play a key role in maintaining the smooth running of the kitchen, managing supplies, and supporting a positive dining experience for residents.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and prepare daily menus that meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences. Prepare meals that are appetizing, well-presented, and within budget. Monitor food stocks, place orders, and maintain accurate records. Ensure all food is stored, handled, and served in accordance with food safety standards. Supervise and support kitchen staff in food preparation and service. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment. Implement and follow all health, safety, and hygiene procedures. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. Build positive relationships with residents and respond to feedback.

Skills and Experience

Proven experience as a

Chef

, ideally within a care home or hospitality environment. Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking methods. Understanding of nutritional and dietary requirements. Excellent communication and time management skills. Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff. Good knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and allergen procedures. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays when required.

Qualifications

Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 2 (or willingness to achieve). NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation or Catering (or equivalent). First Aid Certificate (desirable).
