We are a traditional village pub located in the heart of Pevensey, with a growing reputation for hearty, honest food made with care. As we continue to grow, we're looking for the right chef to help us take our food to the next level while staying true to our roots in classic country fare.
About the Role:
You'll be creating and delivering seasonal menus rooted in traditional cooking, with a focus on flavour, quality, and presentation. This is a hands-on role where you'll work both independently and as part of a small, friendly team. Creativity is encouraged - we're looking for someone who's confident bringing fresh ideas to the table.
Please note: This role involves working weekends and split shifts, as part of a flexible schedule that supports the needs of the kitchen and the business.
Key Duties
complete food preparation and production processes, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes served
Develop and implement menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction
Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies to maintain efficient kitchen operations
What We're Looking For:
A strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
Proven experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a pub or similar setting
A passion for traditional and seasonal ingredients
Ability to work both independently and within a team
Confidence in contributing ideas and helping to develop dishes
Reliability and flexibility to work weekends and split shifts
