Chef

Location: The Brooke Cafe at Norton Priory & Olive Tree Catering, Runcorn

Job Type: Casual / Relief (as required)

Reports to: Head Chef / Catering Manager

About Us:

The Brooke Cafe, located in the historic Norton Priory Museum & Gardens, and Olive Tree Catering, a bespoke events catering company in Runcorn, pride themselves on delivering high-quality, freshly prepared food in both cafe and event settings. We are now seeking a reliable and skilled Relief Chef to join our team on a flexible basis.

Job role:

To support the kitchen team by stepping in during periods of staff absence, busy service times, or special events. The Chef will ensure continuity of high standards in food preparation, presentation, and hygiene across both cafe and event services.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook dishes to the required specifications and standards.

Support the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including service preparation and clean down.

Maintain excellent hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with regulations.

Ensure food is presented attractively and served promptly.

Adapt to different menus, kitchen setups, and service styles between The Brooke Cafe and Olive Tree Catering events.

Work effectively as part of a team and independently as needed.

Communicate efficiently with front-of-house and management teams.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Chef in a similar cafe, restaurant, or catering environment.

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Professional Cookery (desirable).

Knowledge of health & safety and food hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate essential).

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to varying workloads and kitchen environments.

Strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.

Flexibility to work across different locations and on weekends or evenings when required.

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance

Pay: 13.25-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 16 per week

Work Location: In person
