Position: Chef

Hours: 36hrs per week over 5 shifts

Pay: 14.59 - 15.20 per hour (dependant on experience)

Pension: 5% Employers contribution.

Annual Leave: 32 days annual leave, increasing to 37 days in year two of employment.

Location: Graigmillar Park Golf Club, EH9

Term: Permanent

Coorie is the brand for our food-based social enterprises with all income generated supporting the work of Space. We already have a community cafe, a well-established corporate catering business, and a thriving mobile pizza operation.

As part of our mission to grow our operation we are taking over the kitchen of a well established Golf Club which is busy with members of the public as well as club members.

The Role:



We are looking for someone who is experienced at Sous Chef level (or a very confident CDP who is ready to step up) to join our team, taking a leading role in the set up and running of Coorie kitchen at Craigmillar Park Golf Club.

The Chef will play an integral part in the establishment of this new venture, giving the right candidate an opportunity to bring their creativity into the mix.

The chef will help to shape and grow the Coorie brand through exceptional food and service. Working closely with the Kitchen Supervisor, they will produce arrange of fresh, seasonal dishes that showcase local ingredients.

Key Duties:

Prepare, cook and present a menu of quality fresh dishes to a high standard Manage the general day to day activities of the kitchen including managing stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring consistent delivery of a high-quality product and customer service Continually review the menu to keep it enticing whilst adhering to budgets, using sales figures and customer feedback to inform decisions Ensure food hygiene standards are upheld, including appropriate food preparation methods, cleanliness of all areas, COSHH, stock rotation and storage Support, train and motivate kitchen staff to maintain a positive and professional working environment. Work collaboratively with front of house staff and club management to ensure smooth service and member satisfaction.
The right candidate for the role will have the following skills and experience:

Minimum 2 years' experience of working at Sous Chef level in a professional kitchen environment Be comfortable with working alone and have the ability to use initiative and work without supervision Have the physical mobility to lift weight of up to 15kg, following good manual handling practices Have a calm and professional manner, be able to share knowledge, deliver clear instructions and give feedback in a supportive way Have excellent English communications skills - spoken and written Have experience working within legislation and best practice that applies in professional kitchens e.g. Food Safety and HACCP
