This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a small family run company currently recruiting for The Yew Tree in Walton le Dale, Preston.

The Yew Tree has been operated by MSR Pubs since 2013 and its continued success is all down to the consistency and quality of the offer. The directors of the company work daily at The Yew Tree and are very hands on and want nothing more than to further develop and promote the business.

Situated over the road form the Capitol Retail Park and being located on the busy A6 means we amass a varied mix of customers from shoppers, cinema goers, business people and passer bys to name a few. Our menu covers all these bases with a vast array of sandwiches, light bites, burgers, pizza and pub classics.

We offer food daily from 12pm with a split between 3pm & 5pm midweek and then service till 8pm midweek, 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and 7pm on Sundays, so no early morning or late finishes as it stands.

FULL TIME - Working 30-35 hours paid at an hourly rate with the potential to increase hours over key trading periods and for holiday cover or for the right candidate.

The rate is further enhanced by weekly cash tips and there is a 50% off food on shift and then 33% off shift for you and 4 friends to enjoy.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a busy, predominantly fresh food establishment. You will be working under the guidance of our experienced Head Chef and Sous Chef who will obviously bring you up to speed on how our kitchen works and will be expected to develop the skills and knowledge to master which ever area you are working in.

There will be occasions when you will be required to work on your own and as part of a team. Due to the nature of the business you just be aware that you will be expected to work key trading times such as Bank Holidays, Easter, Christmas and New Year etc.

Job Purpose:

Serves meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients; maintaining equipment, inventory, and a sanitary kitchen.
Duties:

Plans meals by analysing recipes; retrieving and ordering ingredients.
Prepares ingredients by following recipes; slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste. Completes meal preparation by grilling, sauteing, roasting, frying, and broiling ingredients; verifying doneness and taste; assembling and refrigerating cold ingredients. Presents meals by placing and arranging hot and cold elements using plates, dishes, bowls, and baskets. Controls costs by adhering to recipes; following preparation standards. Maintains a sanitary kitchen by adhering to state and local sanitation, storage, and refrigeration requirements and codes; cleaning equipment. Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive and cleaning maintenance; calling for repairs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations. Accomplishes organisation goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
