Are you a talented and motivated Chef or Cook with a passion for creating exceptional dishes? Village Green Cafe is looking for someone just like you to join our team!

In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining food safety standards and ensuring a clean, organized kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Food Preparation & Cooking:

Lead the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes, ensuring each plate meets our high-quality standards.

Menu Development:

Work closely with the Business Owner to design and refresh the menu, focusing on seasonal ingredients and innovative dishes to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.

Inventory & Stock Management:

Keep track of kitchen supplies, place orders, and efficiently manage ingredients to minimize waste and ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Food Safety & Cleanliness:

Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations, ensuring the kitchen is consistently clean, organized, and compliant with health standards.

Team Leadership:

Supervise, mentor, and train kitchen staff, including dishwashers and prep workers, while promoting a positive, collaborative team atmosphere.

Quality Control:

Taste-test and adjust dishes as needed, ensuring consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation, and making sure every meal aligns with the restaurant's high standards.

Customer Engagement:

Engage with customers directly to receive feedback, address any concerns, and ensure a positive, satisfying dining experience.

Cost Control:

Support the management of kitchen costs, helping minimize waste while ensuring quality remains at the forefront

Requirements:



Proven experience in a culinary role (Chef, Sous Chef, or similar). Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation. Familiar with food safety and sanitation standards. Level 3 food hygiene certification (or equivalent). Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Creativity, a passion for cooking, and an interest in the latest food trends. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications:



Culinary training or relevant certification preferred, but not essential. At least 1 year of experience working in a professional kitchen. Strong leadership abilities and a collaborative team spirit. Excellent time management and multitasking skills. Knowledge of HACCP and compliance with current food safety regulations.
