We are currently re-opening one of our
solo homes
in Smethwick and are building a brand-new staff team. To support this exciting development, we are seeking a motivated and resilient
Deputy Manager
who can play a key role in leading the service and shaping a positive, supportive environment from day one.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the home, supporting both the staff team and the young person in placement. You will provide leadership during shifts, ensure compliance with regulations, and act as a role model for best practice in caring for young people with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in the daily operation of the solo home.
Lead, motivate, and mentor the staff team, ensuring high standards of care.
Provide direct support to the young person, creating a safe, nurturing, and consistent environment.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of the child at all times.
Support with staff supervision, development, and training.
Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and reviews.
Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Quality Standards.
Work flexibly, including some shifts and sleep-ins, as required.
About You
NVQ Level 3 in Children's Residential Care (essential); NVQ Level 4/5 in Leadership & Management (desirable or willingness to work towards).
Previous experience working with children and young people in residential settings.
Experience leading shifts or in a senior role within residential childcare.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed practice.
Resilient, confident, and able to manage challenging behaviours.
A natural leader with excellent communication and organisational skills.
What We Offer
Salary between 30,000 - 35,000 (dependent on experience).
Sleep-in payments (in addition to salary).
Ongoing training and development, including support towards Level 5 if required.
