We are currently seeking a Senior Support Worker to join an outstanding children's residential care organisation based in Northamptonshire.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and resilient. The role involves working a variety of shifts--including days, nights --on a rota basis across seven days a week. Overtime and waking night rates are available when on rota.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in creating a nurturing, therapeutic, and restorative family environment for children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. You will also support the wider team, offering guidance and modelling emotionally intelligent behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people with complex needs, including Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), such as low self-esteem, self-harm, and challenging behaviours.
- Engage in activities and provide consistent emotional and behavioural support, particularly during times of crisis.
- Lead by example with strong self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a caring, enthusiastic approach.
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the team.
About You:
-You are confident, emotionally aware, and able to remain calm under pressure.
-You are fun, engaging, and capable of building positive relationships with young people.
-You are flexible and willing to go the extra mile to support the home, including covering shifts where needed.
Essential Criteria:
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent which will be recognised in your pay rate.
- A minimum of 12 months Children's home experience
- Experience or knowledge of child-centred, therapeutic models.
- Great communication skills, naturally caring, flexible and resilient.
- A full UK driving licence.
- The right to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship).
- A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be 21 years or over (in line with residential care regulations).
