About Buckinghamshire CAMHS

Barnardo\'s works in partnership with Oxford Health Foundation Trust to deliver a range of services to support children and young people within CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service). As part of this contract, Barnardo\'s deliver\'s the following support to children, young people and their families:

  • Contact Support Workers are a key part of the Single Point of Access and are the gateway to CAMHS. They take calls and referrals from parents and professionals, forward calls from people seeking advice, liaise closely with a range of professionals and our colleagues within OHT.
  • Buddies deliver short term evidence-informed interventions to support children and young people with a variety of mild - moderate mental health conditions, such as anxiety and self-harm. Some buddies also work in other pathways alongside clinicians and deliver more specialist and longer-term input, under the guidance of trained clinicians. We also deliver a range of groups to support children and young people or their parents
  • Children\'s Wellbeing Practitioners deliver Basic Screening Assessments to assess the suitability of a Child or Young person for a short-term piece of support (6 to 8 weeks). These more specialist staff also provide longer term support (10 weeks) for more Children and Young People with complex conditions such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorders.
  • Counsellors and Play Therapists support children under the age of 10 for whom talking therapies are not appropriate.
  • Volunteers provide a range of support for Children and Young People and their Parents. They are fully involved in planning parents support groups, whilst some offer short term 1:1 step down support when buddies finish their work.
  • Participation Lead works closely with groups of CYP so that they are involved in reviewing and feeding back on specific aspects of the service. They also work closely with partner agencies and attends events with young people to promote mental health and emotional well-being. They are also responsible for recruiting, training and arranging opportunities for our active volunteers that are in line with their experience and interests.
  • Team managers support our staff by providing safeguarding support, monthly case management and line manager supervision. Staff are also supported by our clinical lead who provides monthly clinical supervision and time for reflection.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate, clinically qualified individual to lead the next phase of our work within Buckinghamshire CAMHS. The ideal candidate would be tenacious, child and young person centred in their approach and capable of leading a large team in line with Barnardo\'s Basis and Values and expected leadership behaviours.
