Ykids is a charity with a Christian ethos committed to the empowerment and social development of children and young people and in particular communities in deprived areas of Bootle and South Sefton.
The purpose of this post is to be part of the team which oversees and develops the Christian Youth and children's work of Ykids. The role will require the oversight of junior staff, interns and volunteers to help with the development and delivery of work with young people. This post has a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Christian.
Summary
As a Christian Youth Worker at Ykids, you will play a vital role in supporting and discipling children and young people and developing engaging and exciting programmes to promote their wellbeing and faith journey.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
Support, in partnership with the wider team, effective outreach, activities and projects for young people working with schools, and the wider community, and with special responsibility for developing new activities and projects, fresh expressions of youth / children's church, outreach,
Discipleship of young people and development and empowerment of their leadership skills including supporting the running of a faith internship programme.
MAIN DUTIES
Christian Work
To support, develop and deliver a Monday Night Live a vibrant monthly youth church.
To support discipleship groups for young people seeking to grow in faith.
To deliver activities which enable young people to engage in the Christian faith including organising residentials /days out/ volunteering opportunities etc..
To support young people in developing a youth band/digital media skills.
Schools work
To help lead a schools team working with local primary and secondary schools to build links, deliver a variety of activities and to build relationships with children, teachers, learning mentors and parents.
To develop exciting opportunities for young people to engage with the Christian faith.
To identify at risk children and develop activities in partnership with schools, health workers etc.. and to engage or sign post with Ykids opportunities and other projects where appropriate.
To deliver projects which promote well-being, self-esteem, raise attainment and aspiration in young people
To work in partnership with the wider Ykids team to ensure effective communication
Volunteers
To support volunteers ie: work placements/ interns/ apprentices
To support, train and manage young people as young volunteers who express a desire to work within the field of youth work within Ykids.
Community
To engage with young people through detached youth work and projects aimed at disaffected youth
To network with the local community, churches, schools, youth/children's work provision developing working relationships.
To attend relevant networking meetings such as the Youth Providers Forum, Faith Forum, Youth workers breakfast
To development of new projects and initiatives to benefit the lives of young people living in deprivation.
