Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Cleaning Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both commercial and domestic (housekeeping) cleaning operations, with hands-on experience using professional cleaning equipment, including buffing machines.

The trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, practical, and compliant training programs to new and existing cleaning staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety are maintained across all sites.

The successful candidate must be able to work confidently with Microsoft Office and IT systems, including using a phone for communication and reporting purposes, responding to emergency calls out of hours on a rotational basis. A laptop and mobile phone will be provided, along with a company vehicle for work-related travel.

Key Responsibilities:



Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive cleaning training programs for both commercial and housekeeping environments. Train staff on the safe and effective use of cleaning equipment such as buffing machines, floor scrubbers, and vacuum systems. Educate team members on COSHH regulations and safe handling of cleaning chemicals and materials. Conduct on-site training sessions, refreshers, and competency assessments to ensure standards are upheld. Support the onboarding process of new cleaning operatives with structured induction training. Create and update training materials, checklists, and digital learning resources as needed. Utilise digital tools (e.g., training platforms, scheduling apps, reporting systems) to track training progress and compliance. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements. Collaborate with supervisors and managers to identify training needs and performance gaps. Promote a culture of health & safety, quality, and continuous improvement within cleaning teams. Report and document staff absences in real time, and coordinate rescheduling of training or coverage as required to maintain service levels.

Qualifications and Experience:



Proven experience in commercial and housekeeping cleaning roles, ideally across multiple environments (offices, hospitality, healthcare, etc.). Demonstrated experience as a cleaning trainer or team leader with mentoring responsibilities. In-depth knowledge of

COSHH

, health & safety regulations, and cleaning best practices. Hands-on experience with cleaning machinery (especially buffing machines and floor care equipment). Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Tech-savvy with experience using tablets, training software, or digital checklists. Certification in Health & Safety, Manual Handling, or COSHH (desirable but not mandatory).
