. This is a senior, hands-on role combining CNC programming, bespoke product design, and automation strategy leadership.
You will be responsible for designing
one-off, bespoke van storage systems
, developing and optimising CNC programmes, and driving automation improvements across our workshop. This role is central to elevating our manufacturing capability--delivering
precision, efficiency, and scalable systems
without compromising the bespoke nature of our builds.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering
Design bespoke van storage systems, assemblies, and components using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Translate customer requirements into fully detailed, manufacturable designs.
Develop intelligent design solutions that improve manufacturability, fit accuracy, and installation efficiency.
Apply cabinet-making and joinery principles where relevant to improve structural integrity, finish quality, and assembly methods.
CNC Programming & Production
Develop, test, and optimise CNC programmes using
Alphacam
(mandatory).
Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including tooling selection, fixtures, and material handling.
Manufacture precision components to tight tolerances for bespoke, one-off installations.
Carry out routine machine maintenance, inspections, and fault diagnosis to maximise uptime and reliability.
Automation Management
Lead the development and implementation of automation strategies across machining and fabrication processes.
Identify opportunities to reduce manual handling, increase throughput, and improve repeatability and quality.
Coordinate integration of CNC machinery with automated or semi-automated systems where applicable.
Work with suppliers and internal teams to specify, test, and deploy automation hardware and software.
Establish standards for automation documentation, safety, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
Work closely with fabrication, assembly, and installation teams to ensure designs translate accurately into production.
Manage tooling inventory and coordinate with warehouse staff on materials and consumables.
Apply strong mathematical and engineering principles to ensure dimensional accuracy and programme integrity.
Mentor and train team members in CNC operation, design best practice, automation usage, and health & safety.
Experience & Skills Required
Proven CNC programming experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Strong, demonstrable experience using Alphacam (essential).
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Solid mechanical and engineering understanding of materials, machining, and fabrication processes.
Understanding of cabinet production, joinery techniques, and furniture-style construction is highly beneficial
, particularly in relation to bespoke storage systems.
Experience working in bespoke, low-volume, high-precision manufacturing environments.
Experience contributing to or leading automation and process improvement initiatives.
Knowledge of custom jigs, fixtures, and efficient production methods.
Welding and fabrication knowledge highly desirable.
Strong mathematical skills relevant to tolerances, offsets, and dimensional control.
PLC knowledge advantageous but not essential.
Experience with tooling, stock control, and workshop logistics beneficial.
What We Offer
A senior, influential role with genuine ownership over design, CNC programming, and automation strategy.
The opportunity to shape and modernise workshop processes within a market-leading bespoke vehicle fit-out business.
A quality-driven manufacturing environment where precision and craftsmanship come first.
Long-term career progression within a forward-thinking, growth-focused company.
