We are a fast-growing, innovative Internet provider, delivering full-fibre broadband across rural areas in the Southwest, including Dorset, Somerset, New Forest, and now expanding our network into Wiltshire. Dedicated to delivering lightning-fast broadband to thousands of countryside homes and businesses, we are different to most Alt Nets in that we design, build, and operate our own network to ensure every connection meets our high standards. Late last year, we celebrated an exciting milestone in connecting our 10,000th customer to our full-fibre service. This achievement highlights our commitment to exceptional customer service and is reflected in our customer reviews and trust pilot scores. We're a growing business built on teamwork, where each contribution is valued and has a part to play in our successes. With a focus on personal and professional growth, we offer endless opportunities to make an impact. As we continue to grow, we are seeking passionate individuals to join our team.
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact, high-visibility role right at the heart of the Commercial team at Wessex Internet.
Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, you'll work across all key commercial departments, Sales, Marketing, Customer Operations and Community Engagement. Supporting strategic projects, improving internal operations, and helping us make smarter, data-informed decisions. You'll also collaborate closely with our Commercial Operations and Data teams to help scope, resource, and deliver key initiatives. A thorough understanding and appreciation of Salesforce is key, as you'll also be leading on data reporting.
It's a broad, exciting role. Perfect for someone ambitious, proactive, and commercially curious, who wants to gain wide-ranging experience across a fast-moving organisation. You'll need to be collaborative, well organised and confident communicating with people at all levels of the business from field teams to the senior leadership.
You'll play an important supporting role in priority projects (such as our upcoming Renewals programme), ensuring systems, data and processes are aligned, and providing operational support to different teams during periods of change. This might include helping test and embed new ways of working across the Sales and Customer Ops teams, or stepping in as one of the team in times of need.
This is a hands-on role with real variety and an incredible platform for anyone looking to grow a career in commercial operations, strategy, or project delivery.
Responsibilities:
You'll be a true utility player, providing project, data and operational support across the Commercial department. Key responsibilities include:
Commercial Projects & Ops
Working with Marketing and Community Engagement to spark ideas for improvement -- and handling the coordination and admin to help make those ideas reality
Helping shape and resource cross-functional projects -- working closely with the Senior Commercial Operations Manager and supporting the CCO and Heads of Sales, Marketing, Community Engagement and Customer Ops with strategic and operational projects
Working with the CCO to spot & scope commercial initiatives, and then working with our business analyst to map dependencies, risks and opportunities thoroughly, before supporting the relevant Head of Department to build the delivery plan
Playing a key supporting role on priority programmes -- such as our Renewals programme -- ensuring data and systems are aligned, Salesforce activities are running smoothly, and the Sales and Customer Support teams are trained and supported
Providing short-term operational support across different teams when needed (e.g. assisting with onboarding, filling gaps during change, or even filling short-term secondments to various teams to cover sickness or annual leave)
Leading small process improvement projects (e.g. meeting audits, commercial calendar ownership, stakeholder coordination)
Re-organising, improving and maintaining our Commercial SharePoint and integrations with Slack, Notion and any other tools
Data & Insights
Gathering and cleaning data from Community Engagement, Sales, and Marketing to support decision-making
Building and optimising commercial dashboards in Salesforce
Taking charge of consistent and timely reporting of build project registration and take-up rates -- helping the CCO and others understand what's working where and where certain areas may need a boost
Working with our Business Analysts and Data team to ensure information is accessible, timely and shared across the right teams
Helping bridge data flows between Marketing and Community Engagement, ensuring local events and campaigns are properly tracked and resourced
Executive Support
Supporting the Chief Commercial Officer with executive assistant-type tasks, such as managing the CCO's inbox, coordinating key meetings, and helping to prioritise daily tasks and requests
Helping prepare materials for senior leadership and wider leadership meetings
Acting as a key point of coordination across the Commercial leadership team
Exercising discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality -- you'll be exposed to sensitive commercial information and people-related discussions at a senior level, and must handle this professionally and with care
Cross-Team Collaboration
Working with multiple stakeholders across the Commercial function -- including senior leaders
Supporting coordination between teams to ensure alignment, visibility and follow-through
Communicating clearly and confidently -- both verbally and in writing
Developing strong working relationships and becoming a go-to person for Commercial operations
Requirements:
We're not expecting years and years of experience, but we are looking for someone smart, curious, and driven. This is a big role with real scope and exposure and one that can grow with you.
If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and wants to build a career in commercial strategy or operations this could be your perfect next step.
Organised, resourceful and ready to get stuck in
Data literate, confident in Excel and comfortable interpreting numbers
Proficient with CRM systems (such as Salesforce) and data visualisation tools as well as AI.
A confident communicator, who works well across functions, and can build strong relationships while maintaining discretion and confidentially
A quick learner who's happy jumping between projects and juggling multiple deadlines
Proactive and self-starting, able to see what needs doing and take ownership
Excited about commercial work and curious to learn more about how Sales, Marketing, Ops and Community Engagement all fit together
A degree in Business Management, Economics, Marketing or Data Science would be advantageous.
Experience as a PMO Analyst, Project Manager, or a Marketing or Sales Exec
Experience with modern project management tooling, particularly Notion
