Do you have experience of working in or with Health and/or Social Care and would like to make a real difference to services and how support is delivered in Nottinghamshire? The Adult Social Care Strategic Commissioning Team is looking for a new Commissioning Officer to do just that.
In this role, you will work alongside the Continuing Healthcare (CHC) team at Nottinghamshire County Council to support reviews of care home provision. There is an expectation that the postholder will visit care homes across Nottinghamshire on a regular basis, so being a car driver is essential.
You will lead activity with external providers to negotiate care models and agree rates of pay for care home services. You will also work closely with health colleagues to ensure models of care and fee levels are effectively managed within residential provision for working age adults. You will take part in weekly CHC panel discussions alongside social care and health colleagues.
This role includes future planning and evidencing impact for the CHC team, as well as providing line management support to three Service Advisors. You will provide support and guidance to wider Council teams in relation to care home provision, including areas such as 1:1 care arrangements.
You will require good interpersonal skills, an interest in making a difference, analytical abilities and a high degree of respect for the people you work with and serve. You will also need confidence in using Microsoft Applications, including Excel, Word and Teams.
This would be a great opportunity to develop your skills within commissioning. While some relevant work experience is beneficial, such as working on the delivery or arrangement of care and support services, and experience in delivering projects, you will be fully supported to learn and grow in your role and receive support from line management within the commissioning team.
This temporary vacancy arises from a grant-funded opportunity and is currently expected to end on 31st March 2026.
