Purpose of the role




We are looking for a Community Engagement Worker to help make mental health support more inclusive and better suited to the needs of Central and Eastern European and Roma communities.


In this role, you will work directly with people from Central and Eastern European and Roma backgrounds to understand the challenges they face in accessing support and promote understanding of the Hope and Light programme. You will also help shape mental health services so they are more welcoming, respectful, and accessible to these communities.


You will build relationships, promote inclusion, and create opportunities for people to connectby attending cultural, religious and community events. You will also gather feedback through surveys, focus groups and social media, and share this insight at meetings to help improve services.


Please note, this role includes supporting all communities, not only Central and Eastern European and Roma people.

Key duties



Build partnerships with community groups and organisations who support Central and Eastern European and Roma communities, including those offering cultural or faith-based support. Connect with Central and Eastern European and Roma communities to raise awareness of mental health and reduce stigma. Help organise events, forums, and consultations to bring people together and make their voices heard. Encourage community involvement in shaping and improving local mental health services. Support the development of safe spaces, peer-led support groups, and projects led by people with lived experience. Work with other organisations to collect meaningful data and share ways of gathering feedback. Promote existing mental health services and refer people for support when needed. Help track how well services are working and suggest ways to improve them. Keep detailed records and reports to show whats been achieved and what impact has been made. Attend team meetings and local events to build strong links with partners and community leaders. Ensure that in all aspects of the role you embody the aims, objectives, and core values of Mind in Bradford. Ensure that the relevant colleagues and a competent understanding of, and comply with, all Bradford District and Craven Mind policies and procedures. Take responsibility, with colleagues, for ensuring that all Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Information Governance and Equality & Diversity requirements are met and all other Company policies complied with. Undertake any other reasonable duties or tasks deemed necessary by the senior management team.

Knowledge



Essential



Knowledge of the barriers that people from ethnically diverse communities face, specifically across Bradford District and Craven An understanding of confidentiality and data protection. An understanding of how inequalities impact peoples lives Knowledge of risk assessments and safeguarding procedures

Desirable



Evidence of ongoing professional development Experience in community development/engagement Good understanding and knowledge of different organisations in the local area that can support our people.

Experience



Essential



Experience of working with adults, children or young people in a one to one or group setting. Experience in outreach to Central and Eastern European/Roma communities, building relationships, and understanding cultural needs.

Desirable



Experience working within the voluntary and/or health and social care sector
