The Nottingham Recovery Network aims to deliver a fully integrated, high-quality drug and alcohol treatment and recovery support service. Our network comprises of Framework Housing Association (Lead Agency), Double Impact, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Al-Hurraya.

Al-Hurraya is seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Engagement worker to join our Substance use team at Nottingham Recovery Network. As a Community Engagement worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting to develop health promotion initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and education around substance use within the community and other professionals. This position requires an understanding of substance use issues, and effective communication strategies. A local understanding of issues faced by Nottingham city residents as well as community-based support would be desirable.

Responsibilities:

Support the development and implementation of outreach programs to engage the community in discussions about substance use prevention and harm reduction.

Support our Trainer with delivering training and workshops to professionals

Attend wellbeing events to raise awareness about the risks associated with substance use and promote Nottingham Recovery Network, being aware of the importance of health inequalities within our local communities and ensuring equality and diversity is upheld.

Work to reduce stigma and barriers faced by people who use substances when accessing support services and dispel myths of what Substance use support entails.

Establish and maintain strong partnerships with community organisations, Universities, healthcare providers, and other relevant entities and attend networking events.

Required/essential.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence with public speaking.

Excellent organisational and diary management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.

Understanding of cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Self-motivated, creative and with effective promotion skills.

Proficient at Microsoft packages including outlook, word, excel and powerpoint

Desirable.

Experience in developing and implementing health promotion programs, preferably in the field of substance use.

Knowledge of substance use issues, prevention strategies, and harm reduction principles.

Awareness of effective communication and marketing strategies.

Pay: 25,147.00-27,596.00 per year
