Community Impact Lead

Birmingham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

SENAID is an educational advocacy and SEND support charity rooted in the West Midlands. As a recently funded and growing organisation, we are now seeking a strategic and committed Community Impact Lead to lead on local engagement, strengthen our visibility across Birmingham, and coordinate our dedicated volunteer team.

This is a wide-reaching role designed for someone who thrives on building meaningful relationships, representing the charity in the community, and ensuring that our work stays visible, valued, and impactful. As we grow, you will also play a supporting role in helping us evidence our impact and contribute towards funding opportunities by showcasing our reach and relevance.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Representation

Serve as the lead representative of SENAID at school coffee mornings, Early Help events, family drop-ins, and other outreach sessions across Birmingham. Build and maintain effective, strategic relationships with schools, family hubs, Early Help teams, and community-based professionals. Ensure SENAID's support offer is visible, clearly understood, and accessible to professionals, families, and referring partners. Proactively seek new community networks and opportunities to promote our offer in high-need areas.

Volunteer Coordination

Oversee day-to-day volunteer engagement, including maintaining rotas, holding check-ins, and ensuring volunteers feel valued and supported. Assist in onboarding and inducting new volunteers, working with the Operations Lead to ensure smooth integration. Contribute to a positive, motivated team culture among volunteers, encouraging accountability and growth.

Community Impact & Contribution to Fundraising

Support the collection of impact data, quotes, case stories, and community insights to evidence the value of our work. Contribute short updates or content for funder reports, grant applications, or partnership proposals when required. Share reflections from community events or emerging issues that may help shape future service design or funding priorities.

Administrative & Strategic Support

Maintain accurate records of outreach contacts, event participation, and volunteer activity logs. Attend internal planning meetings and contribute to wider organisational development, helping align outreach with capacity and priorities. Support broader team projects where relevant (e.g., resource delivery, content collection, occasional training).

Person Specification

Passionate about inclusive education, community empowerment, and improving outcomes for families of children with SEND. Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to connect with diverse audiences. Experience in community engagement, outreach, education, or a related sector. Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Experience supporting or coordinating volunteers is desirable. Comfortable contributing to impact narratives, light content writing, and basic reporting. Commitment to SENAID's values, grassroots approach, and the importance of culturally responsive services.
