The Council has a duty to respond to corporate casework in a timely and effective manner, and in compliance with General Data Protection Regulations. This includes Complaints, Freedom of Information Requests, Subject Access Requests and Enquiries from residents received via political representatives, such as the Mayor, Councillors and Members of Parliament. In Hackney we view corporate casework as an opportunity to reflect on and make service improvements based upon the feedback from our residents.

About the Role

As Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for



- the efficient management and coordination of responses to complaints, Freedom of Information Requests and Subject Access Requests, working with service areas within the Children & Education Directorate and across the Council



- ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, timelines, GDPR and service standards



- ensuring complaints are handled efficiently and with integrity



- providing advice and quality assurance on responses



- producing regular reports on performance, including identifying themes and recommendations for improvement.



Prior knowledge or experience of education or children's services would be beneficial.

About You

We are looking for someone process-orientated, well-versed in the technical/legislative side of GDPR and complaints handling, but also with the ability to motivate and empower others to see the value and importance of effective complaints handling and compliance to help them to play a more active role.



You will have strong stakeholder management skills and a proactive, improvement focussed mindset, and a focus on high quality service user experience.



You will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal.



Strong organisational skills are critical, which will enable you to prioritise tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and handle high-pressure situations. You will also be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.



You will demonstrate commitment to professional development and learning to adopt our systemic, trauma informed, and anti-racist (STAR) practice model and standards.

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role
