Full-time Permanent Employment (35-Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday).
Shift Pattern:
2 Shift Rotations (6am to 1pm and 12:00 to 7pm).
This is a 100% Office-based role (no hybrid or remote working).
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing efficient transport plans that optimise logistics and supply chain operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment. The Transport Planner will collaborate with various departments to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions.
There is an opportunity for someone who is not quite at the level required in the skills section below, that has transferable skills, who can take onboard training and direction as a Junior Container Transport Planner, but you will be paid the lower annual salary whilst you are being trained up. With a pay review on successful completion of your career development by your team leader / manager.
Duties:
Develop and implement transport plans that meet customer requirements while optimising costs.
Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure the smooth flow of goods throughout the supply chain.
Analyse transport routes and schedules to improve efficiency and reduce delays.
Maintain accurate records of transport activities and prepare reports as needed.
Liaise with customers to provide updates on delivery schedules and address any concerns.
Utilise Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, for data analysis and communication.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards in all transport operations.
Provide leadership and support to junior staff members in the planning department.
Skills:
Effective administration skills.
Proficient in driving logistics strategies that enhance supply chain performance.
Excellent computer literacy, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong command of English with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven customer service skills with a focus on building positive relationships.
Effective organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of IT systems relevant to transport planning is advantageous.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also demonstrating independent initiative.
