Job Overview


We are seeking a talented and dedicated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Dog & Duck. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production and kitchen management, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. As a Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in daily operations, overseeing kitchen staff, and contributing to menu development. You will lead when the Head Chef is off site and be responsible for the quality and cleanliness of the kitchen areas.

Responsibilities



Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and supervising kitchen staff. Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality. Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative and appealing menu items. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment. Monitor inventory levels, assisting with ordering supplies as needed. Ensure that all dishes are prepared to specification and presented beautifully for service. Handle any customer feedback or concerns regarding food quality or presentation. Ensure dishes leave the kitchen in a timely pace but not to jeopardise the quality. Have an eye for detail- regularly check the areas are clean and safe in accordance to current regulations.

Requirements



Proven experience in a culinary role, preferably within a restaurant setting. Supervising experience with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Strong knowledge of food production techniques and culinary practices. Excellent cooking skills with an emphasis on creativity and presentation. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
