Tutor - Textiles/Pottery



Salary Range: 8,322.34 - 10,739.83



(salary based on 16 hours per /2 days per week 37 weeks per year)



FTE: 25,494.48 - 32,900.20

We have an exciting opportunity for a Tutor to teach either Textiles, Pottery or both to groups of students with mixed abilities, aged 16 to 25, at Coleg Plas Dwbl in Pembrokeshire. You will be responsible for the delivery of teaching and learning within a practical skills environment, you will encourage learners to experiment with and share their own creativity with others and help them to develop confidence and their ability to display their products with their peers and community.

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching and hold a teaching qualification. However, we would still welcome applications from individuals who have not yet achieved this but are willing to train and learn.



You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required by the Trust, which may be outside of your usual working hours.

The key duties in this role will include:



You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.

To plan and deliver Pottery/Textiles sessions and teach the students how to produce practical and meaningful items from the materials at source (clay) into community orientated projects and items. Ensuring students engage in learning and achieve: through careful planning of the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.
Delivering teaching and training with a therapeutic and supportive approach, wherever possible linking students learning activities through a methodology of the Trust, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.

To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement.

To familiarise with student background information, profile and risk assessment wherever reasonably possible.

Coleg Plas Dwbl sits on biodynamic farmland at the foot of the Preseli Mountains in the Welsh countryside.
