We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Deputy Manager (Registered General Nurse - RGN) to join our healthcare team. Duties
Provide strong leadership and supervision to nursing staff, including nurse management and team management responsibilities.
Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations to ensure accurate and thorough evaluations.
Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and manage catheter care with precision and adherence to protocols.
Coordinate complex medical procedures such as ventilator management, gastric lavage, spinal taps, cardiac catheterization, and sterile processing.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for medical documentation, medical records management, and data entry.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations using laboratory experience, sonography, medical imaging, and specimen collection/processing techniques.
Ensure infection control standards are maintained through aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols.
Lead discharge planning efforts including patient education on dementia care, memory care strategies, nutrition guidance, and occupational health considerations.
Manage utilization review and utilization management processes to optimize patient care pathways while adhering to NCQA standards.
Facilitate triage assessments for emergency medicine cases or acute pain management scenarios in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Support compliance with health coaching initiatives and family planning services when applicable.
Supervise staff training on ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate medical billing and documentation purposes.
Maintain a safe environment by managing airway management equipment such as ventilators or neonatal ventilators when necessary.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across specialties including pediatrics (PICU), neonatal care, behavioral health, geriatrics, occupational health, ophthalmology, cardiology (airway management), and more.
Ensure all activities comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and OSHA standards while promoting a culture of safety.
Experience
Candidates should possess extensive experience in various healthcare settings including hospital medicine, ICU experience (Level I & II Trauma Centers), emergency medicine environments, long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities, dialysis units, or home care services. Prior supervisory or nurse management experience is essential for leading teams effectively. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated expertise in critical care procedures like IV insertion/injection administration, catheterization techniques (including Foley catheters), phlebotomy skills, suturing proficiency, and working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Experience working with diverse patient populations--including those with developmental disabilities or dementia--is highly valued. Additional qualifications include familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes; knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10); understanding of DRG systems; proficiency in medical terminology; competence in performing physical examinations; experience managing complex cases involving trauma or acute pain; and working knowledge of infection control practices. Applicants should have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; demonstrated supervising experience; strong physiology knowledge; ability to perform patient assessments accurately; understanding of medical documentation standards; familiarity with laboratory testing procedures; competency in specimen collection/processing; and experience administering injections. This role requires excellent communication skills for effective team collaboration across various specialties while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements related to patient privacy (HIPAA). A proactive approach toward continuous improvement in patient care quality is essential.
