We are seeking an experienced and dedicated
Deputy Nursery Manager
to support the director and oversee the day-to-day operations of our nursery. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, a sound understanding of early years practice, and a commitment to delivering high-quality childcare and education.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with a passion for early childhood education. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while also managing staff and engaging with parents.
Key Responsibilities
Support as the Deputy Nursery Manager in the effective leadership and management of the nursery team.
Ensure all policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices are consistently followed.programmes that promote children's development and learning.
Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational programmes aligned with the EYFS.
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy DSL) when required.
Maintain strong, positive relationships with parents through regular communication and feedback.
Support staff performance management, appraisals, and professional development.
Take responsibility for daily operations in the Manager's absence, including staff deployment and ratio management.
Oversee daily record-keeping, including accident forms, medication logs, and attendance registers.
Essential Requirements
Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent).
Enhanced DBS clearance and the right to work in the UK.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a senior or supervisory role within an early years setting.
Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
Proven experience of managing nursery operations and staff teams.
Excellent knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding practices.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Paediatric First Aid (training can be provided if not already held).
Knowledge of Makaton, BSL, or other communication tools.
Experience in managing allergies and special dietary requirements.
A valid driving licence.
Experience
Demonstrated experience in supervising or leading a team within a childcare setting.
Proven track record of implementing high-quality early years practice.
Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with parents, staff, and external professionals.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with staff, parents, and children.
