We are seeking a skilled and experienced Deputy Transport Manager to oversee our logistics and supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining high standards of customer service. This role requires strong leadership and organisational skills, a hands on approach as well as a deep understanding of logistics management.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate all transport activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
FLT experience essential, will be trained in house.
Experienced in route planning and traffic laws.
Develop and implement transport policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
Oversee the scheduling of deliveries and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Liaise with customers and other depots to address any transportation-related inquiries or issues, ensuring excellent customer service.
Monitor vehicle maintenance and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimise logistics processes.
Prepare reports on transport performance metrics using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
Lead and mentor the transport team, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Support on driver recruitment and development, leading by example.

Experience
Proven experience in transport management or a similar role within logistics or supply chain environments.
Strong management skills with the ability to lead teams effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
A background in driving or knowledge of transport regulations is advantageous.
IT literacy is essential for managing systems related to transport operations.
Preferable driving experience Class 1 or Class 2.
Preferable warehouse operations experience.
