The Role




As Development Manager's your role is overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise applications and system integrations. This management role ensures alignment between business requirements and technology solutions, driving efficiency, scalability, and performance across Suez R&R's Enterprise Architecture. Own the Devoplment lifecycle process, have responsibility for the overall development pipeline and backlog for both Application and Integration development teams.


Responsibilities


Lead and manage a highly, multi skilled team of application and integration developers, both FTE and offshore. Provide technical direction for the team and ensure the team's decisions and approach aligns to the enterprise architecture and product roadmap Oversee the development, and deployment of new applications and system integrations. Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, and Solution Architects to gather requirements and translate them into development specifications. Define and enforce best practices, coding standards, and integration protocols (e.g., APIs, middleware, ETL tools). Ensure data integrity, system security, and performance in all application and integration projects. Manage software development lifecycles using Agile, DevOps, or other methodologies, own the process and continuous improvement to drive development quality and efficiency. Evaluate and implement tools to improve development and release processes. Drive continuous improvement in development process, application and interface lifecycle. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, IT policies, and cybersecurity requirements. Manage vendor relationships and contracts for third-party software. Manage technical and release documentation ensuring transition to the Integration Support & Release management team Collaborate with counterparts in the SUEZ group around the world to share best practice, learn new ideas and share common challenges to development strategies. Define and own a transition process from development to support of applications and integrations. Drive continuous improvement in development estimation and actual time taken, focus on data collection, feedback, and iterative adjustments. Regularly track actual vs. estimated time, analyse discrepancies, and use those insights to refine estimation techniques and processes.

Skills Required




Proven experience in managing the successful delivery of applications using agile processes. Good knowledge of working with technical and business stakeholders and the wider IT team. Experience of how to successfully lead teams through the full development life cycle. Experience in development and management of high-skilled/expert teams. Experience with the governance and processes of a large and mature international and multicultural organisation. Large impact project delivery: supervision of large company transformation projects involving multiple stakeholder groups and with strategic impact. Open minded, quick & avid learner, with business acumen, evaluating emerging technologies and best practices, learning from competitors at a global level but also across industries. Able to translate business requirements to technical requirements. Credible, confident and articulate, with excellent communication and presentation skills and the gravitas to build senior relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Generating innovative ideas, embracing new approaches, and fostering a culture of experimentation to enable continuous improvement.

Experience Required




7+ years of experience in software/application and integration development, including 3+ years in a managerial or team lead role. Strong knowledge of integration platforms, APIs, RESTful services, microservices, and middleware tools. Experience with ERP, CRM, or custom business applications (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, Coupa, Platform). Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., .NET, Java, Python, Node.js). Experienced with low code development methodologies (i.e. Mendix, Appian etc). Solid understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL) and data modeling. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud). Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Comfortable and confident presentation skills Fluent in written and spoken english

Qualifications




A Computer Science Degree (or other relevant subject) or equivalent professional experience Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, Agile), cloud platforms, or integration tools. * Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
