Portfolio Insights and Technical Manager




This strategic role supports the CIO and Technology leadership by delivering high-quality, data-driven insights across financials, delivery, risk, and outcomes. The successful candidate will lead the development and continuous improvement of Royal Mail's Portfolio data and reporting capability, driving automation, governance, and advanced analytics to elevate portfolio maturity.


Key responsibilities include:

Producing strategic insights to inform executive decision-making Leading adoption and optimisation of Planview across 400+ users Enhancing tooling and reporting through automation and continuous improvement Upholding data integrity and governance standards Delivering executive-level reporting and shaping strategic narratives Collaborating across technology, finance, and transformation teams

The role has broad impact across the Technology Portfolio function and supports investment decisions at the highest levels. While it carries no direct reports initially, it requires cross-functional leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Key Skills & Experience



Expertise in Planview and enterprise portfolio tooling Advanced Power BI or equivalent data visualisation skills Strong stakeholder engagement and communication Experience in Agile and Waterfall delivery environments Continuous improvement mindset and attention to data integrity

Desirable



Experience driving system adoption across large user bases Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence Project management certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) Background in Big 5 consulting Knowledge of data governance frameworks
