The Society of St James (SSJ) is a Hampshire-based charity that exists to prevent, relieve and end homelessness locally. We support people who are homeless, in recovery from addiction, or facing other tough challenges. Each year we work alongside more than 3,500 people, offering accommodation, support and opportunities to help them build brighter futures. The Role



Our Business Development, Fundraising and Communications team is at the heart of SSJ's growth and impact. We build strong relationships with supporters, partners and funders, helping to secure the resources needed for our services to thrive. From developing innovative campaigns and winning new funding, to sharing powerful stories of change and deepening connections with our community, we are focused on creating opportunities that enable SSJ to reach more people and change more lives.

This new full-time post will play a vital role in ensuring the charity has a strong, consistent and effective presence across digital and communication channels.

The post-holder will lead on developing and managing SSJ's digital marketing activity, delivering the online strategy, and performance analytics, ensuring our campaigns, supporter journeys and engagement are data-led and impactful. They will also take responsibility for organisational communications - including press and publicity requests, media liaison, and internal staff communications - providing SSJ with a clear voice and consistent messaging.

The Ideal Candidate



Essential Criteria



Demonstrates experience in digital marketing, including SEO, analytics, campaign delivery and supporter engagement. Strong copywriting and content creation skills for digital platforms. Experience managing social media accounts across multiple platforms. Proficiency in website CMS (WordPress/Beaver Builder), Canva, and video editing software (e.g. Filmora). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Willingness to travel across Hampshire and occasionally work outside office hours.

Desirable Criteria



Experience in the charity or non-profit sector. Knowledge of media relations, internal communications, and issuing press releases. Experience of Salesforce or other CRM systems. Experience of using analytics and reporting to measure communications impact. Experience of growing online communities and developing social media strategies to support fundraising or awareness campaigns.
