Rail Infrastructure, one of three businesses within Siemens Mobility Limited UKI, supports the UK & Irish rail industries through the design, manufacture, implementation and support of innovative and safety-critical train control solutions, rail traffic management, fixed and mobile telecommunications, electrification, station security and passenger communications solutions and intermodal applications. We are dedicated to helping operators transform passenger and freight transportation to help support the UK\xe2\x80\x99s drive for net zero.

The role

The Digital Solutions Architect role is an exciting and multifaceted role, providing an opportunity to be at the forefront of new technology deployment within our business and deliver real impact in the UKI rail industry.

As a key member of the Rail Infrastructure (RI) UKI Digitalisation & Innovation function, the Digital Solutions Architect will work closely with our customers, partners, digital technology teams, domain experts across the Siemens business, and the Sales and Bids and Tendering teams to develop digital services and solutions to transform passenger experience, improve operational performance, and drive carbon and cost reduction within the UK railway.

Using their in-depth technical knowledge of cloud and digital platforms and systems, and strong customer and stakeholder engagement skills, the Digital Solutions Architect will be responsible for the technically and commercially sustainable design of our digitalisation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical analysis of multi-layered systems and solutions, benchmarking with existing Siemens UK and global solutions, identifying interrelationships and leading the design methodologies and implementation of scalable digital architectures.
  • Supporting the evaluation of short-term development priorities and development of the RI UKI digitalisation solutions roadmap to ensure we meet our customers\xe2\x80\x99 needs now, and in the future.
  • Experience leading assessments of existing systems and solutions and wrap proposals to be evaluated and build robust, sustainable, and scalable connected digital solutions.
  • Analysing challenges, development issues and constraints, recommending solutions and defining engineering, lead cost and sub-contract support requirements.
  • Designing and updating Standard System Configurations for our digital products, services and solutions and working with the engineering team to integrate into our customer proposals.
  • Supporting the Sales, Finance and Commercial teams to develop sustainable commercial models and business cases for investment.
  • Helping the Marketing team promote our digitalisation offerings with engaging customer, industry and internal campaigns.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
  • Relevant degree qualification and commensurate experience in digital technologies, systems engineering, data and platform integration, in rail or similar technically and commercially complex industry.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with the ability to translate and communicate technical solutions into business and customer benefits.
  • Experience in leading and supporting cross-disciplinary teams to develop solutions and value engineering methodologies, focused on customer and business needs.
  • Innovative, creative, proactive and agile, able to adapt quickly to changing market and internal requirements, ambiguity and change.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong time management, prioritisation and planning.
