The role purpose



This role will lead the strategic direction for all marketing activity across The Auckland Project. You will lead a Marketing and Communications Team to deliver multi-platform, content-rich campaigns that achieve TAP's purpose and business objectives.

Working with other Directors and Heads of Department you will develop a tone of voice and communication commensurate with The Auckland Project. Your focus will be on acquisition, retention and development of audiences across the venues, working collaboratively with other colleagues across the organisation.

You will also establish working relationships with other regional attractions and tourism bodies to promote Bishop Auckland, County Durham and the North East as a regional, national and international destination.

You will champion and embed a strong audience focus throughout TAP. The role will suit someone who identifies with TAP's purpose and who is looking for an exciting opportunity in a new and fast-paced visitor destination. Using data insight to develop audiences and achieve targets, you will conceive and commission research programmes across physical and digital platforms that inform campaigns and achieve KPI's.

Key Responsibilities



Strategy



Define and deliver a marketing strategy that consistently enhances the efficiency of spend and builds market share of target audiences. Develop strategies to achieve visitor number and revenue targets. Build brand awareness across all markets and ensure the brand message is clear and consistent across all communication Devise, implement and champion the CRM strategy to deliver an exceptional customer experience through CRM Email multimedia. Build on data analysis to define, commission and analyse research programmes across physical and digital platforms that inform product development, service provision and effective campaign planning. Working with the Hearth to build and run campaigns to position TAP's regenerative effort in the community, our partners, funders and more widely.

Tactical



Direct the marketing mix for TAP's offering, which includes creative development, onsite, outdoor, website, digital, social media, CRM e-marketing, digital marketing promotions, and partnerships. Oversee all marketing and communications activity across TAP's visitor attractions and venues, providing direction and guidance on efficiency of spend for all commercial enterprises including events, retail and catering. Develop retention marketing and engagement through our CRM by adding customer value. Deliver strong ROI within defined budgets, reporting on marketing performance and ROI. Working inhouse or with external agencies where necessary to improve websites and the customer journey Direct the growth of TAP's social media followings through a strategic mix of organic and paid campaigns (e.g., Facebook, Instagram), and oversee targeted advertising in relevant industry publications. Oversee the creation of newsletters, publications, and other marketing materials, ensuring the delivery of relevant and engaging content. Guide the team to drive sign-ups to a marking database and generated leads for ticket sales. Lead the development of landing pages, ad copy, and optimisation of SEO across all digital content initiatives. Manage a high performing team across marketing functions to ensure the effective delivery of campaigns to achieve revenue and visitor targets. Keep up to date with external developments in the marketing, museum and visitor attraction arena to ensure the effectiveness of TAP's marketing activities.

Leadership



Build, manage and develop an effective and efficient Marketing and Communications function. Provide a clear vision and purpose within the Marketing and Communications function which results in the delivery of a high quality marketing strategy. Create and foster a strong customer service and satisfaction culture, developing a high performing team with high levels of engagement. Develop, embed and promote a culture and system for listening to customer feedback to enable continuous improvement across the team. Lead by example to demonstrate and embed TAP's values within the team and the wider organisation.

Person Specification



Essential Knowledge and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Marketing or a related field Minimum of 5 years working in a similar role An analytical mind with the ability to interrogate and articulate TAP's strategic objectives and work in collaboration with key partners across the organisation. Significant experience of championing and embedding audience focussed strategies, including developing market based segmentation models and embedding these within a visitor attraction or equivalent consumer facing environment. Demonstrable experience of successfully building and managing multi-skilled teams across marketing functions in a visitor attraction, retail or other fast moving consumer environment. Multi-channel experience balancing the full marketing mix in campaign planning to achieve brand and business objectives: creative development, outdoor, digital, social and communities, CRM and e-marketing, promotions, pricing strategy and partnerships. Significant experience of managing budgets with a track record of achieving high ROI. A great communicator with the ability to develop and maintain effective and valuable relationships that enable collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders. An interest in and commitment to the work of TAP.
