Job Description

The Division Manager plays a central role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of a group of subjects within a Division. The postholder provides high-quality clerical and administrative support to Ignite, Illuminate and Shine Leaders, contributing to curriculum development, student progress, communication and the overall efficiency of the Division.

Working closely with other Division Managers, the role supports consistency of practice and the sharing of best practice across the College.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Professional Expectations



Promote and implement College and Division policies and protocols.

Support and uphold the Catholic values and aims of the College at all times.

Participate in the College performance management programme for support staff.

Provide first aid and undertake relevant training as required.

2. Administrative and Clerical Support



Curriculum and Teaching Support



Prepare agendas and take minutes for Division meetings.

Prepare letters, reports and documents for Division Leaders and teachers, including photocopying and distribution.

Produce learning resources, including standard homework tasks.

Maintain displays in classrooms and public areas for subjects within the Division.

Support quality assurance processes by maintaining records relating to:

- The quality of teaching.

- The quality of student work.

Examinations, Enrichment and Attendance



Manage administrative aspects of examination entries across the Division.

Supervise independent study sessions as required.

Monitor, prepare and present data on the Division's enrichment offer.

Track and report on student attendance at enrichment activities.

Staffing, Cover and Division Coordination



Ensure appropriate cover work is provided for absent teachers and liaise with supply/cover staff to ensure materials are available promptly.

Assist with administrative aspects of performance management for teachers within the Division.

Prepare and maintain the Division calendar in collaboration with Division Leaders and subject teachers.

Communicate effectively with colleagues across the Division and College, including referrals to Inclusion, SEN, EAL and Welfare teams when appropriate.

Finance and Resource Management



Monitor and manage the Division's capitation budget.

Order resources, manage stock and maintain accurate inventory records.

3. Collaboration and Communication



Liaise regularly with other Division Managers to share good practice and ensure consistent operational procedures.

Build positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels to ensure effective curriculum delivery and Division operations.

4. Additional Expectations



The duties listed are not exhaustive; the postholder may be required to undertake additional tasks related to the role.

Staff should note any additional duties performed, which will be reviewed when the role is evaluated.

The postholder must comply with any reasonable request from a manager or Headteacher to undertake similar work.

As St Bede's and St Joseph's Catholic College operates across two sites, the postholder may be required to work at either site.
