We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting their independence. The Support Worker will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those under their care.
Responsibilities
Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Support individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive impairments through behaviour management techniques.
Facilitate mobility by assisting with walking or using mobility aids; heavy lifting may be required for some clients.
Maintain accurate records of client care and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Drive clients to appointments or social activities as needed.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall quality of life for clients.
Qualifications
Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings is preferred.
Knowledge of patient care practices, including first aid and medication administration.
Experience in senior care, hospice care, or caregiving is highly desirable.
Familiarity with behaviour management techniques for individuals with cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's or dementia is an asset.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.
A valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties.
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including heavy lifting when necessary.
