We specialise in drain lining, no-dig technology, CCTV surveys, commercial drain cleaning, drainage groundworks and civil engineering for water authorities, commercial and private clients.

Job Overview


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Drainage Civils Manager to oversee and deliver drainage groundwork projects (which includes: new sewer connections, rising main diversions, surface water systems and flood mitigation works). The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of civil engineering disciplines. This role requires a technically strong, hands on management style across a wide range of drainage, with focus on delivering quality work efficiently while adhering to all health and safety regulations and maintaining project timelines.

Key Responsibilities



Manage, lead and deliver drainage civils and groundwork projects overseeing all phases from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and client specifications. Oversee site activities to include but not limited to: New sewer connections and diversions (S104/S185) Rising main diversions and reinstatement Surface water and flood mitigation systems Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) Septic tank and private drainage installations Groundwater control and deep well installations River siphons, gabion installations, and watercourse outfalls Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and project documentation. Liaise with clients, local authorities, and water companies to secure permits, approvals, and ensure compliance with design and environmental standards. Coordinate internal and subcontractor resources to ensure safe, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery. Monitor budgets, timescales, and resources, providing regular progress and financial updates. Provide technical input into design reviews and value engineering. Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards. Support the tendering and estimating process for new civil drainage opportunities. Lead, train, and mentor site supervisors and civils operatives. Building and maintaining excellent relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience



Minimum 5 years' experience in drainage and civil engineering, ideally within utilities, infrastructure, or environmental sectors. Proven track record of delivering large-scale civils projects, managing drainage groundworks, flood mitigation, SuDS, and sewer infrastructure. Skilled in project planning, scheduling and resource management. Working knowledge of septic tanks, groundwater control, deep well systems, river works, gabion construction, and watercourse outfalls. Ability to identify potential risks and driven to develop solution strategies. CSCS Manager's Card or equivalent. SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme). In-depth understanding of S104, S185, and Water Industry Standards. Excellent communication, planning, and leadership skills. A proactive mindset with a strong commitment to safety and quality. Valid driving licence suitable for commercial vehicles is preferred.

Desirable:



HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. NRSWA Supervisor accreditation. Confined Space and Temporary Works training. Experience working with developers, water authorities, or principal contractors Ability to interpret technical drawings and use CAD or drainage design software.
