About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civils Manager to oversee and manage all civil engineering works across our telecoms infrastructure projects. This role is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of build activities, including excavation, ducting, cabinet installations, reinstatement, and enabling works that support fibre and mobile network deployment.

As Civils Manager, you will manage field teams and subcontractors, ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently, and maintain compliance with industry standards and client specifications. You will work closely with project managers, planners, field engineers, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and coordinate civils crews and subcontractors delivering telecoms infrastructure works. Oversee excavation, ducting, duct integrity, cabinet bases, chambers, reinstatement, and other civils activities. Ensure all works comply with CDM regulations, NRSWA requirements and client quality specifications. Conduct site inspections, audits, and quality checks, ensuring safe systems of work and adherence to method statements. Manage permits, noticing, wayleaves, and permissions with local authorities and other third parties. Plan and schedule civils activities in alignment with network build timelines. Monitor productivity, costs, and resource allocation to keep projects within budget. Identify risks and issues early and implement corrective actions. Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and handover packs. Foster a positive safety culture and lead toolbox talks, briefings, and site safety reviews.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Proven experience in a Civils Manager, Civils Supervisor, or similar leadership role within the telecoms industry. Strong understanding of civils build methods for fibre or telecoms network deployment. In-depth knowledge of NRSWA/Street Works and Traffic Management requirements. Experience managing subcontractor performance and multi-site operations. Confident in interpreting technical drawings, utility maps, and build plans. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence.

NRSWA Supervisor Accreditations Experience with work management systems, and project reporting software Knowledge of Openreach PIA, Virgin Media standards, or equivalent telecoms frameworks
