Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the preparation of cost estimates for projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in budgeting. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control measures and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver precise estimates that align with project specifications.

Responsibilities



Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects based on specifications, drawings, and other relevant documentation. Conduct thorough analysis of project requirements to identify potential cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations. Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and labour costs to provide informed estimates. Prepare reports and presentations summarising estimates for management review. Handling incoming calls from clients regarding new, existing, or follow-up works, providing clear communication and excellent customer service. Acting as a point of contact for both reactive and civils engineers, supporting them with job-related queries and resolving minor HR issues. Scheduling daily works and planning long-term project works, including engineer-trainee pairings to maximise efficiency and development. Managing client expectations while maintaining strong relationships, and ensuring engineers are fully supported in their roles. Supporting the implementation of CRM and job management systems to streamline business processes and improve workflow.

Experience



Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry is preferred. Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices. Proficiency in estimation software and tools, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy in estimations.
