The Flowhesion Foundation is seeking a passionate and proactive individual to lead and deliver its growing Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people, inspiring them through meaningful outdoor education and personal development experiences.
As Programme Manager, you will coordinate, deliver, and expand our DofE offer, ensuring high levels of participation and timely award completion. You will plan and run skill, physical and expedition sessions, manage volunteers, and ensure all programme elements--from logistics to compliance--are delivered effectively and in line with DofE standards.
Due to the nature of this role flexibility is required. The role will involve working at weekends and during school holidays. Flexibility is therefore essential. Previous experience in a similar role with knowledge of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, assessment and management system would be desirable. We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic person who can bring out the best in our young people. A mountain leader qualification is desirable, as is an up to date first aid qualification, A clean driving licence is however essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and deliver all aspects of the Bronze, Silver, and Gold DofE Awards.
Facilitate skill, physical and expedition sections for young people (14-25).
Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers and sessional staff.
Plan and lead weekend expeditions (2 nights/1 day) and related training.
Maintain equipment and ensure risk assessments and safeguarding measures are followed.
Liaise with parents, local/national DofE bodies, and partner organisations.
Maintain accurate records on the eDofE system.
Essential Criteria:
2+ years' experience leading outdoor education or youth development sessions.
Experience working with young people aged 14-25.
Up-to-date first aid certification.
Experience in safeguarding and conducting risk assessments.
Clean UK driving licence.
Strong communication, planning, and leadership skills.
A personal passion for the outdoors and youth empowerment.
Desirable Criteria:
Mountain Leader or equivalent qualification (or working towards it).
DofE Assessor/Supervisor qualifications.
Experience coordinating DofE programmes and training volunteers.
Knowledge of the eDofE system.
