We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated person into the role of EAL Coordinator. The successful candidate will be working across our campus, taking a leading role in providing specialist support to EAL students. You will be working with individuals and small groups of EAL students to promote their inclusion and provide support for teaching and personalised learning. Experience of supporting students who do not speak English as a first language is desirable. The successful candidate will need to have; excellent communication skills, a strong ability to multitask, and proficiency in various software applications.

Main responsibilities:
To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
To co-ordinate the EAL department and Teaching Assistants
To develop and share best practice in EAL teaching within the College
To offer guidance, coaching, mentoring and training to all staff on EAL teaching and multicultural inclusion
To ensure all other staff have high skill levels and knowledge in that area of expertise
To support colleagues and ensure that their teaching is rated at least 'good' in lessons that contain students who speak English as an additional language
To liaise and collaborate with the Intervention Leads to provide targeted support in areas of literacy and numeracy
To liaise with external agencies as necessary including EMA, EWO and Plymouth Translate services or START/DCRS/REC
To liaise with the wider inclusion team to ensure EAL students are supported appropriately
To support colleagues with differentiation in order to support EAL students
To refer students to mentors as and when appropriate
You will need:
Strong academic record, including English and Maths GCSE at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
Experience of working with/supervising students including knowledge of behavioural and learning difficulties.
