Job Purpose:





The EHCP Officer will support young people with Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), providing both direct and indirect interventions to aid their transition, retention, and success within the college.


The role involves family and advocate liaison, preparing, chairing, and reporting on Annual EHCP Reviews, and working closely with lecturers, support staff, and external stakeholders to ensure statutory and contractual obligations are met while delivering the best possible support to students.

Key Responsibilities:




Provide support to young people with EHCPs, ensuring effective transition and progression. Offer advice and interventions (direct and indirect) to assist with retention and success. Liaise with families, carers, and advocates to provide consistent support. Prepare, chair, and report on Annual EHCP Reviews in line with statutory requirements. Work collaboratively with lecturers, support staff, and external agencies to provide cohesive support. Ensure compliance with policies, statutory duties, and contractual obligations. Maintain accurate records and documentation, following established procedures. Contribute to a positive safeguarding culture and promote student welfare at all times.

Education & Experience:




GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade A-C (or Level 4-9). Previous experience of working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and problem-solve independently. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and external stakeholders. An Enhanced DBS check (including Barred List check) is required. Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
