The Electrical Improver will work under the supervision of qualified electricians and engineers to gain hands-on experience across a range of electrical systems. The role combines on-site installation, inspection, and testing with planned and reactive maintenance activities, providing opportunities to progress towards full electrician status.
A typical week will include:
Onsite Work: Assisting with the installation, commissioning, testing, and inspection of electrical systems alongside experienced engineers. Look to provide the required evidence for your field work within your NVQ.
Maintenance Work: Supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities, including fault finding, repairs, and energy efficiency improvements. The role will also involve attending static sites to gain greater exposure to electrical building services systems and further develop technical knowledge in this area.
Training & Development: Building practical experience and technical skills, supported by supervisors and mentors, to achieve future qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE
City & Guilds 2365 level 2 Diploma
City & Guilds 2365 level 3 Diploma
City & Guilds 2382-22 Certificate
Basic understanding of electrical principles and safe working practices
SKILLS
Good verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
Ability to apply basic problem-solving skills to a variety of situations.
Ability to develop good level of understanding of all electrical disciplines.

DUTIES
Undertake NVQ training to relevant skills level.
Attend college in accordance with training regime.
Submit portfolio to the College to support NVQ submission.
To undertake site based training to allow development.(D)
To undertake activities as instructed by the supervision technician, mentor or management team.
Work with the QSHE Advisor to develop strong QSHE skills.
To support members of the operational team in undertaking their works as required.
Work as part of the Apprentices scheme to develop self and others.
Regularly communicate with site mentor and sponsoring manager.
Be aware of the Environmental, Health & Safety and Business Continuity Plan for the part of the business you work in.
