Fixatex is seeking an Electrical Improver to support an Electrical Testing and Inspection Engineer in
conducting fixed wiring testing (EICRs) and remedial works across various properties, including
domestic and commercial settings, primarily in social housing.
The role offers a great opportunity for career development, with the potential to progress to an
Electrical Testing & Inspection Engineer within the company.
This is a self-employed position under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
Key Responsibilities
Assist in electrical installation, maintenance, and test & inspection work under supervision.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and relevant industry standards.
Follow instructions from the assigned Electrical Engineer and work collaboratively as part of a
team.
Communicate professionally with residents, clients, and team members when required.
Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism.
Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Undertake training provided by the company to support skill development.
Carry out additional tasks as reasonably assigned by the line manager or directors.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Some prior experience in the electrical industry.
Ability to work effectively within a team.
Strong practical skills and a positive attitude.
Good communication and time management skills.
Desirable (but not required):
Basic understanding of testing and inspection procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
City & Guilds Level 2 Electrotechnical Qualification (or equivalent).
Desirable:
City & Guilds 2391-51 (Testing & Inspection).
City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations - BS 7671).
Asbestos Awareness (training can be provided by the company).
Equipment & Transport
The post holder must provide their own hand tools and battery-powered tools.
The company will supply all other necessary equipment.
Travel to job sites is required and can be undertaken using personal transport, public
transport, or travelling in a company vehicle with the electrical engineer.
A daily travel allowance will be provided.
Work Status & Hours
Employment Type: Self-employed under CIS.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (8 hours per day, 1-hour unpaid
break).
Some flexibility may be available in certain circumstances.
Travel may be required across the UK to complete assignments.

The Electrical Improver will report to the Qualified Supervisor.
