About The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining all plant equipment and electrical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The position plays a key part in minimising equipment downtime, supporting operational teams, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and company standards.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure that all jobs are carried out safely, with due regard to risk assessments, permit to work, working procedures and statutory legislation. Responsible for wearing protective clothing and notifying supervisor of potential hazards.
Maintain all plant and electrical equipment and report damage or misuse to immediate supervisor. Liaise with operational staff where appropriate.
Provide a standard of work and productivity consistent with good customer service.
Develop an in-depth working knowledge of plant equipment and associated drawings in order to repair and maintain equipment to minimise downtime with minimal supervision.
Use initiative, common sense and organisational skills in order to work without supervision and ensure the job is completed accurately and safely.
Inform management and immediate supervisor to ensure everyone is aware of the appropriate timescales for completing of tasks. This is particularly essential during peak periods.
Undertake ancillary tasks as required.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and maintaining the highest standards of safety. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to minimising downtime. As the role supports operational continuity, flexibility is key - you should be willing to participate in an on-call rota to respond to urgent needs.
Qualifications and Skills:
Time served qualified Electrical Maintenance Technician and have previous experience of working within a heavily industrialised environment
Strong working knowledge of AC/DC control systems, PLC's and HV/LV would also be advantageous
Confident communicator and be able to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders across the business
As our working environment comprises quaysides, warehouses and other Port buildings therefore the ability to work at height, in confined spaces and in an outdoors environment is essential
Full UK driving licence
