We are seeking an experienced and qualified Working Electrical Supervisor to join our NICEIC-approved contracting team, delivering inspection, testing, and remedial electrical works for a social housing contract.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining supervisory duties with direct, on-the-tools work to lead and support the contract manager. The successful candidate will set the standard for quality and productivity, serving as both a mentor and a working member of the team. Supervisory duties:
Ensure quality standards:
Monitor the team's work to ensure all tasks are completed correctly and adhere to all company and industry standards.
Conduct training and mentoring:
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members, especially new hires, to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
Promote safety:
Enforce all company safety protocols and conduct regular risk assessments and safety briefings.
Resolve issues:
Act as the first point of contact for operational challenges and team issues, and implement effective solutions.
Hands-on duties:
Work directly on projects:
Actively participate in the day-to-day work alongside the team, using tools and equipment to complete tasks.
Troubleshoot and repair:
Use advanced technical skills to diagnose issues, perform complex repairs, or adjust equipment for optimal performance.
Cover staffing gaps:
Step in to support production and manually assist the team during staff shortages or increased workloads.
Operate machinery and equipment:
Run diagnostic tests and operate various tools, machines, and other equipment as required.
Demonstrate best practices:
Lead by example by showcasing the correct use of tools and techniques to maintain high standards of workmanship
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, support, and quality-check the work of electricians and apprentices on site carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), fault finding, and remedial works within occupied and void social housing properties.
Ensure all electrical work complies with BS 7671: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and NICEIC requirements.
Conduct on-site inspections and audits to maintain safety and quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of testing, remedials, and compliance documentation.
Promote and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to Health & Safety policies at all times.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Fully qualified electrician with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation.
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification.
City & Guilds 2391 (or 2394/2395) Inspection & Testing qualification.
Employed by or experienced within a NICEIC Approved Contractor organisation.
Proven experience in electrical testing, fault finding, and remedial works in social housing or domestic maintenance environments.
Previous supervisory or team-lead experience.
Excellent knowledge of testing procedures, certification processes, and compliance standards.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Full, clean UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Certifications
Asbestos Awareness training.
First Aid at Work certification.
Good understanding of NICEIC auditing and compliance processes.
