This is an exciting opportunity to join the RMBC Employment Solutions Service as part of the Pathways to Work project, which has been successfully supporting the Rotherham community since October 2020.
The project focuses on helping economically inactive residents access training, education, and employment. The team is offering eight permanent roles for Employment Solutions Officers who will provide employability support through appropriate information, advice, guidance, and interventions. These roles are crucial in ensuring all outcomes and outputs are achieved according to service definitions.
Successful candidates will need to be highly motivated, well-organized, and problem solvers. They will offer holistic support to help remove barriers, working with partners and providers to improve Rotherham's economic prosperity by enabling individuals to reach their goals and aspirations. The role is flexible, involving community liaison, outreach, and some hybrid working opportunities, with office-based work at Riverside House. Candidates will identify and assess the needs of individual customers, implement relevant interventions, and record results using contract compliance and quality assurance mechanisms, providing a baseline for measuring progress and achievement.
A flexible, person-centred approach and strong communication skills are essential for this role. Experience working in community-based settings, particularly with harder-to-reach and socially excluded communities, is required. The role involves engaging with these communities to help them progress towards employment, conducting outreach work, and managing an individual caseload of customers. You will have a proven track record in:
Effective communication, dealing with customers both face to face and over the telephone.
Providing advice and support to customers on matters to access employment and training.
Multi-agency working to deliver a cost effective, bespoke service.
Employment and training/education initiatives.
The successful candidate will have:
Good Communications and listening skills
An ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, colleagues and third parties.
An ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures.
Experience of working in an advisory position and able to develop action plans for employment, education, and training to support customers to achieve goals.
Experience of providing advice on CV, applications, job hunting and interview techniques
Experience of building relationships with stakeholders to achieve a better outcome.
Experience of working in a performance driven environment.
Understanding of working in a community- based setting, including working with harder to reach and socially excluded communities and engaging with them to progress towards employment.
