Job Description


We are looking for an Experienced HCA with phlebotomy to join our friendly team to work approximately 21 hours per week, covering Monday to Friday, hours to be agreed. This role would work along side our two practice nurses.
The ideal applicant should be flexible and able to do overtime as required. The duties include venepuncture (phlebotomy), blood pressure management, administering IM injections, performing ECGs, wound dressings, removal of stitches/clips and health promotion. Training can be provided for additional roles if required.
Must be able to keep computerised medical records updated relevant to your caseload. If you have experience or an interest in providing NHS health checks and supporting patients in maintaining a healthy lifestyle (or similar) this may be beneficial in this role.

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
Emergency equipment and medication vaccine re-stocking and checking
Managing clinical waste
Re-stocking consulting rooms including ordering of stock where appropriate
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
Notifying the GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues
About us
We are a rural dispensing practice with approximately 3180 patients. We have a lead GP and three salaried GP's, a practice manager, two practice nurses, a bank phlebotomist, 3 dispensers and 5 admin staff.
We are rated 'Outstanding' with CQC and excellent patient care is important to the whole team.
We are set in a beautiful location with views of Corfe Castle.

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice Nursing team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Lead Practice Nurse, GP and/or Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
Performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples, ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
Accurate labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
Checking patient identification against GP/Nurse request and confirming with patient
Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with Practice procedure
Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.

Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
