Job Summary:
The Production Manager will support the Factory Director in leading all aspects of operations across our 3 sites, with responsibility for all production employees.
The chosen candidate will manage a production team of circa 30 colleagues across 3 plants, over a 24-hour shift pattern, ensuring the factory is run safely, efficiently, and products are manufactured to the highest quality and in line with our production plans. The role will involve liaising with maintenance, QSE and warehouse to look at continuous improvements to processes, to ensure productivity is maximised.
Key Responsibilities: (but may not be limited to)
Oversee manufacturing and production processes across 3 sites.
Lead the production department - supervise staff, supervisors and managers to ensure optimal performance.
Motivate and train the production team to achieve high performance and productivity.
Identify training/development needs for team members.
Create accountability and ensure standards are clear, maintained and improved with learning.
Plan, schedule and coordinate daily production activities to meet output and delivery targets.
Liaise with the maintenance team to minimise downtime and plan preventative maintenance.
Manage raw material availability and usage, in coordination with our procurement and warehouse teams.
The effective and efficient allocation of resources to ensure plant targets for quality and output are consistently met, including performance and OTIF.
Maintain accurate production records, KPI reporting and incident tracking.
Continuously improve production processes to enhance efficiency and minimise costs.
Prepare and present regular production reports and analysis to senior management.
Act as site representative during inspections and audits.
Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all.
Ensure all factory staff are adhering to safety, quality and environmental standards.
Responsible for producing safe working procedures and risk assessments.
Responsible for housekeeping in all sites; ensure team members are adhering to health and safety regulations.
Conduct daily operation reviews and briefings, conduct employment review meetings and investigation meetings.
Drive absence and performance management across the production team in a timely and professional manner.
Required Key Skills and Competencies:
5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
Possess strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and safety regulations.
Experience working with good manufacturing and engineering practices, ideally with some background in engineering.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Proficiency in production planning software and tools, particularly SAP.
IT Proficient including good working knowledge of MS office.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Experience and competence in resource planning, the application of health and safety, environmental and disciplinary procedures and working within budgetary constraints.
Great attention to detail.
Works well under pressure.
Able to work effectively within a team or your own initiative.
Work in a logical and systematic manner.
