About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Family Law Solicitor to join our growing Manchester City Centre practice. You will manage a private family law caseload, deliver high-quality legal advice, and provide excellent client care throughout every matter.

Key Responsibilities
Casework & Legal Advice
Manage a varied caseload of private family law matters, including:
Divorce and separation
Financial remedy
Children Act (contact and residence)
Non-molestation and occupation orders
Cohabitation disputes (TOLATA)
Provide clear, accurate legal advice tailored to each client
Prepare and draft applications, statements, bundles, schedules and other court documents
Liaise with counsel, experts and other professionals as required
Client Care & Communication
Maintain professional, timely communication with clients
Manage expectations regarding outcomes, timelines and costs
Deliver a sensitive, supportive approach during emotionally challenging matters
Advocacy & Hearings
Attend hearings where appropriate and conduct advocacy (depending on experience)
Prepare briefs and instructions to counsel
File Management & Compliance
Maintain organised, compliant files and documentation
Follow internal procedures for onboarding, AML checks, and risk management
Ensure deadlines and court timetables are met
Billing, Performance & Productivity
Meet agreed billing and productivity targets
Record chargeable time accurately
Progress files efficiently to ensure consistent monthly output
Contribute to the financial performance of the department
Teamwork & Development
Work collaboratively within the Family Law team
Mentor junior staff when required
Participate in training, knowledge-sharing and departmental meetings
Maintain a positive and professional working environment
About You
Qualified Solicitor with experience in Family Law
Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills
Confident managing your own caseload
Excellent organisation, attention to detail and client-care ability
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Professional, empathetic and committed to high standards
Desirable (but not essential):
1-5 years PQE
Experience in both children and financial matters
Advocacy experience
