Job Description

This Project is funded for two years by the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund to provide holistic, early intervention, and "no wrong door" support to families facing complex challenges across East Ayrshire, ensuring seamless access to wraparound resources.

Working within a team of three Family Wellbeing Workers and three Family Engagement Workers you will be the key relationship holder for families accessing the service within East Ayrshire. This role is crucial to the delivery of a "no wrong door" philosophy by serving as the family's consistent guide and advocate. The worker will deliver holistic, needs-based support, co-create personalised support plans, and proactively coordinate access to all necessary internal and external resources reducing the burden on families and preventing issues from escalating. The ultimate goal is to build trust and empower families to take control of their well-being.

JOB DESCRIPTION



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABLILITIES



Whole Family Support and Case Management



"No Wrong Door":

Act as the primary point of contact for families entering the service, regardless of the complexity or nature of their initial concern.

Holistic Assessment:

Conduct comprehensive, strength-based assessments that identify the needs, strengths, and goals of all family members (children and parents/carers).

Co-creation of Support Plans:

Collaborate with families to develop and regularly review dynamic, outcome-focused Support Plans, ensuring they address the interconnected needs across areas such as housing, debt, mental health, parenting, and education.

Proactive Early Intervention:

Deliver direct one-to-one practical and emotional support, focusing on offering help at the earliest possible stage to prevent crises.

NAVIGATION, COORDINATION AND EFFICIENCY



Seamless Navigation:

Expertly navigate the complex landscape of support services in East Ayrshire acting as the family's advocate to ensure they access resources without having to repeatedly tell their story.

Multi-Agency Coordination:

Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with partners (e.g., East Ayrshire Council Social Work, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, local education providers, and third sector organisations) to ensure streamlined communication and coordination of services.

Advocacy and Empowerment:

Support families to understand their rights, access entitlements, and build the confidence and skills necessary to navigate support systems independently.

Building Trust:

Foster strong, trusting, and non-judgemental relationships with families, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Safeguarding:

Uphold and adhere to the organisation's Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding policies, consistent with East Ayrshire's local safeguarding procedures and national guidance.

Data and Reporting:

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case notes, contributing to the monitoring of outcomes and service evaluation.

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT



Reporting Structure



The Family Wellbeing Worker will report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive.

Line Management:

The Deputy Chief Executive will provide regular 1:1 line management and supervision to ensure high-quality service delivery, professional development, and reflective practice.

Operational Team:

The Worker will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary Family Wellbeing Team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure a true "whole family" approach.

Accountability:

The role is accountable for managing a dedicated caseload and ensuring all statutory and organisational procedures, particularly relating to safeguarding and data protection, are rigorously followed.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIEMCE AND KNOWLEDGE



Experience:

Minimum of 3 years' experience working directly with vulnerable children and families presenting with multiple and complex needs.

Whole Family Approach:

Demonstrable understanding of whole-family support principles and the interconnected nature of family well-being.

Knowledge of the Local Landscape:

Strong working knowledge of local community resources and statutory services in

East Ayrshire

(housing, welfare, health, education).

Safeguarding:

Thorough knowledge and understanding of child and adult safeguarding best practice and procedures.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILIITES



Assessment and Planning:

Highly skilled in conducting holistic needs assessments and collaboratively developing goal-oriented support plans.

Communication:

Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills, with the ability to build immediate rapport and advocate effectively.

Resilience and Boundaries:

Ability to manage a complex caseload, work autonomously, and maintain effective professional boundaries.

DESIRABLE SKILLS



Driving:

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes would be desirable.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFIACATIONS



Relevant professional qualification in Social Care, Health, Education, Counselling, or a related field (e.g., SVQ Level 3/4, HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent professional experience).
